QCC concluded the ‘Our Schools, Our Communities’ project, which ran during the months of November and December 2014. The project was executed in three UNRWA schools in Khaza’a, Khan Younis, south of Gaza, and was co-financed by the Norwegian Refugee Council. It sought to alleviate the psychological distress the population experiences due to the Israeli aggression on the Strip. Around 1,800 children benefited from the project.
During the project, students from Abu Teimeh Elementary Co-Educational School formed a Dabkeh dance group, while children from Khaza’a Elementary Schools for Girls and Boys started a Chorus.
The project extended over a period of 5 consecutive years during which 3 parent clubs were created. 4 meetings on the Community Parents Education Programme (COPE) were held in each club over the duration of the project.
