February at the Mosaic Rooms saw a busy and varied programme of events including the screening of the Oscar nominated documentary film 'Dirty Wars'. Other highlights included talks by Jonathan Watkins, the director of Ikon Gallery, and author Ilan Pappe who discussed his new publication ‘The Idea of Israel’. A screening and Q&A with director Mahdi Fleifel of the acclaimed documentary 'A World Not Ours' also took place as well as a special Valentine’s Day supper club with regular supper club host Lamees Ibrahim.
Mogadishu-Lost Moderns opened at The Mosaic Rooms in March. The private view was a full event and featured a special DJ set by Chris Menist. Mogadishu-Lost Moderns is the first exhibition to explore Mogadishu through its architecture and urban environment. As part of the exhibition The Mosaic Rooms have programmed a diverse programme of events exploring the rich culture of Somalia. More information.
The 2014 Edward W. Said London Lecture will be delivered by Raja Shehaheh at the British Museum on 28 March, he will tackle the question of ‘Is There a Language of Peace?’
