The Child Center-Gaza/AMQF, with co-financing from the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), has recently re-launched its Improved Education Project for the seventh year in a row. The project is implemented in five public elementary schools across both the Gaza and the Deir al-Balah governorates, and aims to enhance the role of parents as the first educators of their children and improve their communication with their children’s schools.

12 schoolteachers attended the first training held under the project. The training focused on ways to create parent clubs within schools, activating school libraries and using art in child education and recovery.

The project helped create five parent clubs in the participating schools and conduct five workshops on puppet making for children and parents.

Parent-child activities are expected to continue in the coming weeks, including activities in library building and puppet theatre, seminars on child development, nutrition and behaviour modification, and organized visits to CCG. It is to note that one of the main components to the Improved Education Project is creating a library in each school and furnishing it with furniture and books.

The project runs until the end of April 2017.
