On 6 April, the Child Centre - Gaza (CCG) organised a literary event with Maya Abu Alhayyat, a Palestinian novelist and poet from Jerusalem. A significant number of intellectuals, authors and people with an interest in literature and creative writing in Gaza attended the event.
The event was meant to encourage a cultural, creative and intellectual exchange between Palestinian authors and literary figures through a platform of discussion and dialogue. It was also designed to learn about Abu Alhayyat’s experience and career.
This event was organised in the context of Abu Alhayyat’s visit to CCG with a view to implementing a cultural training programme, with a particular focus on storytelling in standard Arabic. The training targeted professionals, librarians and people working with children. On her visit, Abu Alhayyat read some stories to children at the Centre’s library and the library of Al Maghazi Community Rehabilitation Society in the Al Maghazi refugee camp. This activity is part of the continued cooperation and support the A. M. Qattan Foundation (AMQF) delivers to the Al Maghazi Community Rehabilitation Society.
