The Young Artist of the Year Award 2012 exhibition at The Mosaic Rooms came to an end in August after being well received by London audiences. “Enlightening-amazing talent from Palestine” is one of the comments in praise of the work on show from the visitor’s book.
In August, The Mosaic Rooms hosted young Palestinian playwright Dalia Taha in the guest studio. Taha was awarded the 2013 International Playwright Residency from the Royal Court Theatre, and stayed at the Mosaic Rooms whilst working on a new play as part of this residency.
In September, as part of London Design Festival, The Mosaic Rooms opened a new exhibition entitled ‘Home’, showcasing the work arising from the 2013 learning and engagement programme. The mixed media exhibition includes furniture and objects, photomontage artworks, oral histories testimonies and artist reflections, resulting from various projects exploring the notions of home. An e-catalogue of this work is available here. As part of the festival, there is also an exclusive pop up exhibition by Beirut’s Carwan Gallery, who commission international designers to work with local artisans all over the Middle East to create limited edition objects.
