The cultural programme accompanying the exhibition Intervening Space: From the Intimate To The World continued throughout June. In early June, the gallery hosted a special evening with Gazan author Atef Abu Saif who introduced his groundbreaking new publication, ‘The Book of Gaza’.

There was a special supper club hosted by Chris Benarab, the executive chef of award winning restaurant Azou celebrating the delicious food of Algeria. Photographer Jason Oddy discussed the little known Algerian work of the celebrated Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, architect Samia Henni discussed French late ‘modernist’ architecture in Algeria and independent curator Ali MacGilp presented the film ‘Out of Curiosity’ and was in conversation with its director Ronnie Close.

June also saw one of the greatest living Iraqi poets, Saadi Youssef launch his seven volume collection spanning over 60 years of poetic output. The exhibition closed on 28 June with a special closing party to mark the launch of a new interactive exhibition catalogue.

In July The Mosaic Rooms are looking forward to opening a new exhibition, My Sister Who Travels, a group show of six contemporary women artists who use lens-based media. A rich cultural programme exploring the Mediterranean region as a place that visually articulates concerns of memory, conflict, colonisation, migration, emptiness and expanse has been programmed to accompany the exhibition throughout July and August.
