The A.M. Qattan Foundation invites the public for an open discussion to establish a nucleus for the Alternative Cinema Club on Saturday, 04 March 2023, at 11:00 am At the Qattan cultural center in Ramallah.
The discussions will focus on bringing individuals and specialists who are interested in alternative filmmaking together to discuss the club’s objectives and formulate practical steps for the establishment of the club in the local community.
The Foundation aims through this initiative to:
1. Involve alternative cinema pioneers and individuals in the organization’s activities and in the planning of the cinema programme for 2024, in line with the club’s agreed-upon vision and objectives.
2. Participate in this year's film screening activities and hold critical discussions that reflect the visual culture that utilizes social and political representations.
3. Create a conducive and effective space for discussing the intellectual issues highlighted in alternative films. This will help in creating alternative critical discourse on the issues presented and move them from the local realm to a broader and universal context where experiences can converge, and issues intersect on various levels.
4. Support the holding of several events and activities related to alternative cinema and provide the necessary space, benefiting from the different experiences and backgrounds of participants and club members.
