In partnership with a number of Palestinian and international organisations, the Culture and Arts Programme (CAP) organised, from 7-9 July, the fourth edition of /S:in/ Festival of Video Art and Performance under the title “Reclaiming the Public Space”.
Seeking to reach a varied public, the Festival was held in several Palestinian cities and villages. It featured public performances and video screenings in streets and rarely used public spaces. It coincided with the month of Ramadan, at the height of the summer season.
The Festival’s main objective for this year was to attract audiences wherever they were; some drove around, enjoying the Ramadan nights, others observed shop windows and digital billboards, only to see art installations on display instead of commercial ads, and streets became platforms for artists showcasing their works.
