The Culture and Arts Programme (CAP) contributed support to an international symposium on the works of, late Palestinian intellectual Edward Said on the occasion of his tenth anniversary. The event, entitled "A Journey of Ideas Across: In Dialogue with Edward Said", was held in Berlin from 31 October to 2 November. It aimed to revive readings of his works in light of the current political and cultural situation in the Arab world. One of the sessions was broadcast on 2 November between The House of World Cultures in Berlin and The Dialogue Café in Ramallah.
CAP also contributed support to The Music and Art Festival at Hebron University which took place between 3 and 5 October, as well as to the Children’s Theatre Week organised between 22 and 31 October by the Palestinian National Theatre in Jerusalem.
Further, CAP supported a performance tour and workshops in the dance form Capoeira in several cities between 24 October and 1 November. The initiative was organised by the “Capoeira Freedom Collective”. CAP also promoted a conference held between 11 and 12 October at Bethlehem University on “Modern Arabic Language and its Cultural Role in Building Cognitive Awareness”, and sponsored a Palestinian artist’s stay in Sardinia,Italy from mid-October to mid-November.
