On 1 July, the Qattan Centre for the Child launched Touch of Sympathy project for the children of Gaza, with funding support from Salam Ya Seghar and the Welfare Association. The project goal is to alleviate the aftermath experienced by children who have endured aggression against the Gaza Strip by improving teaching methods used in kindergartens. The project, to run between 1 July 2013 and 28 February 2014, incorporates an infrastructure refit of ten kindergartens, as well as therapeutic and nutritional support for children, including meals delivered to schools. The project also involves a number of community initiatives intended to encourage solidarity among children.
In August, the Centre launched a project entitled Improving Educational Environments in Kindergartens, funded by Save the Children. The project aim is to make improvements at early childhood care centres, and to help improve the socio-psychological welfare of children at fifteen kindergartens in Gaza.
