The Educational Research and Development Programme (ERDP) organised a training session on using arts as a context to explore and express people’s concerns through community-based arts projects. The training session was supervised by Sri Lankan artist Deneth Wedaarachchige.
The training session is a component of the Culture and the Arts and Social Engagement (CASE) Project implemented by the Educational Research and Development Programme and the Culture & Arts Programme. With joint funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the project is delivered over a period of three years (2016-18).
This two-day training session was initiated with a presentation of international community-based arts projects. Participants then constructed artistic works inspired by community stories, expressing social concerns through a variety of artistic works.
