The A.M. Qattan Foundation is seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual for the position of Director of Development & Communications Department to work in its offices in Ramallah. Following is the description of this position:

 

Job Title: Director, Development & Communications department

Job Type: Full time

Line of Responsibility: Director General

Work Location: Ramallah

 

Job Objectives:

Taking the lead on the Resource Development Strategy, Communications Strategy, as well as MEAL, and provide leadership, strategic vision, and direction to the Foundation as a member of the Senior Management Committee

 

Responsibilities & Duties:

Leadership and Representation

  • As a member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to the strategic development, programme integration and representation of the Foundation, and to key decisions affecting the Foundation.
  • Representing the Foundation among partners, donors, and the community at large and addressing queries where relevant.
  • Developing strong working relationships with potential partners for new cooperation opportunities.

Resource Development:

  • Lead in resource development strategy, planning and target setting.
  • Identify and lead strategic fundraising concepts and identify and nurture funding opportunities ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s strategies and goals.
  • Managing fundraising and other income generating initiatives, campaigns, and events
  • Identifying and cultivating potential donors and partnerships, and building strong relationships with them
  • Ensure compliance, mainstreaming, and integration of crosscutting issues, and effective communication amongst relevant stakeholders.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL):

  • Lead on establishing MEAL processes and systems at the Foundation, aligned with its strategic directions and work plans.
  • Identify areas of learning and research related to strategic issues of interest and support program leaders to create and design projects and initiatives to address these areas.
  • Develop and lead on the design and implementation of an internal monitoring plan, and internal/external dissemination framework.

Media & Communications:

  • Contribute to and maintain the Foundation’s image and reputation.
  • Manage and lead on the Foundation’s communication strategies and policies.
  • Ensure relevance, quality, and effectiveness of the Foundation’s communications outputs.
  • Ensure effective and efficient media and communications’ operations.
  • Ensure alignment of media and communications with the Foundation’s values and interlinked voice and brand.

Managerial Tasks:

  • Prepare and manage the Department’s work plans & budgets, in close coordination with the relevant staff
  • Direct & manage the department’s staff; ensuring that staff members are inducted, supported, and encouraged to develop within their roles.
  • Conducting regular and annual staff appraisals and identifying their development and training needs
  • Preparing and presenting regular narrative and progress reports including those for the Foundation’s semi-annual, annual and public reports
  • Any other work-related activities

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Certificates in project management/ research/M&E .. are a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Solid experience of developing and managing monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Resource management, training, capacity building, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Excellent in the use of technology and computer software/applications.
  • A general appreciation of the issues concerning the NGO sector, both development and humanitarian issues
  • Good analytical skills. Effective negotiator, with the ability to positively influence cross departmental and cross sector working.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills

Other Job Factors

  • Flexible working hours are required to accommodate evening and weekend activities.
