On 22 January, the Foundation renewed its partnership with the Ford Foundation, which began in 2007, by signing the “Qattan Fund for the Performing Arts” agreement. The Fund is a $300,000 grant initiative dedicated to supporting performing arts in Palestine for the years 2011 and 2012; providing two types of support for the performing arts sector.
The first type targets new productions through a package that includes production support, capacity-building to achieve higher quality productions, promotion and touring to increase accessibility to cultural productions with emphasis on reaching schools, universities and marginalised communities and, finally, documentation of the works by video and literary scripts to be disseminated to art organisations as well as school and university libraries.
The second type of support is focused on providing specialised training. Highly qualified local and international expertise will be recruited to offer specialised technical, artistic and management training to develop the quality of performing arts productions.
