The Mosaic Rooms year began with the deeply moving and widely attended exhibition “The Book of Destruction” by the award-winning German Photographer Kai Wiedenhofer. In February, the Mosaic Rooms hosted its first fashion exhibition “Silk Thread Martyrs” by young Palestinian designer Omar Joseph Nasser-Khoury to coincide with London Fashion week, as well as a number of inspiring literary events including upcoming talks with acclaimed authors Raja Shehadeh and Hisham Matar in March.
As part of the Qattan-Delfina Art Residency project, the residency panel selected Mohammed al-Hawajiri for its 2011 residency. Hawajiri is an artist who lives and works in Gaza, Palestine, and has exhibited his works internationally. His work spans sculpture, photography and video art, often using the indigenous cactus plant. The residency will take place in London from May to June.
