On 21 February the Cultural Activities and Programmes Unit at the Qattan Centre for the Child, in cooperation with the Islamic University's Centre for Architectural Heritage (IWAN), launched My Country’s Monuments, a programme for 25 children under the age of 12. The programme, which runs until 18 April, employs a variety of artistic activities and techniques, including Mantle of the Expert, to give children the opportunity to learn about their cultural heritage, and about the importance of preserving historical sites and monuments.
The Mantle of the Expert is a drama-based approach that encourages students to take on the role of the ‘expert’ who responds to the demands of a potential customer or client. It is designed to encourage creativity when learning curriculum subjects, as well as to help children build professional skills and develop views about the world in which they live.
