In concert with their strategic partnership, the Welfare Association and the A. M. Qattan Foundation signed an agreement to continue their collaboration on the second phase of the Animation in Education Project. In accordance with the agreement, the Welfare Association will provide $199,190 and the Qattan Foundation $79,279 towards the project.
Building on the successful results of the first phase of the project, launched in partnership between the two Arab Foundations Forum members in 2011, phase two will focus on training teachers and students to produce short claymation and cardboard animation films for educational purposes. In addition, animation studios will be established in two schools, and a third studio that was established during phase one will be developed further.
By using animation within an educational context, the project aims to enrich the learning process in schools by developing theoretical and technical knowledge on the one hand, with the development of creativity and social skills on the other. The project will be implemented by the Qattan Centre for Educational Research and Development, one of the Qattan Foundation's three core programmes.
In 2012, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both parties stipulating a strategic engagement for the development of the cultural and educational sectors in Palestine, and the exchange of information and experiences between the partners.
