The Qattan Centre of the Child organised between 9-13 February the 'Be My Friend' campaign, which aimed at integrating children with special needs in kindergartens. The campaign included a series of cultural and recreational activities and targeted children from the Touch of Sympathy project, which is co-funded by Salam Ya Seghar and the Welfare Association.
This was the Centre’s second campaign, following the ‘Hand in Hand’ campaign that provided humanitarian aid to children in need during the ‘Alexa’ snowstorm. ‘Be My Friend’ aims to encourage integration between different groups of children, tackling discrimination and promoting acceptance of differences.
Around 750 children participated in the 5-day campaign, which entailed a range of different activities such as: reading stories, acting, drawing, playing traditional Palestinian games, painting a mural depicting ‘Children’s Rights’, freehand drawing; and face-painting. Each day concluded with a performance by the participating children.
