On 23 April, the Qattan Centre for the Child, in partnership with Centre for Architectural Heritage (IWAN), Diwan Ghazza and the Mamounia School, organised a celebration at the historic Hathat Palace east of Gaza City to celebrate Palestinian Heritage Day.
The event marked the conclusion of the first stage ‘My Country’s Monuments’ programme’, implemented by the Centre for the second year in a row and targeting around 100 children. The programme seeks to enhance the children’s knowledge of the their heritage through ‘Drama in Education’ and ‘Mantle of the Expert’ approaches.
The event included different heritage-related activities, where children danced traditional Dabkeh and performed traditional songs. There was also screening of a short film summing up the experiences of the ‘My Country’s Monuments’ programme.
