In early November 2014, QCC launched the Child-Friendly Areas project; a jointly funded initiative by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the A. M. Qattan Foundation. The project targets six areas in the Gaza Strip, and aims to foster the love of reading, raise the level of art appreciation among children, and help them restore their daily routine after the recent aggression on Gaza.
The project originally targeted the Mughraqa area in central Gaza Strip, the Sammouni area east of Gaza City and northern Gaza Strip. The Centre decided to target three more areas where schools lacked cultural and artistic services. The new areas are Khirbit Al-Adas in Rafah, the Salqa valley area in central Gaza Strip and Al-Qarara in Khan Younis.
