The A. M. Qattan Foundation is seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual for a senior position of Director of Communication and Public Relations to work in its offices in Ramallah. Following is the description of this position:

Job Objectives: A senior level position with the main objectives of

  • Developing and managing communication policies and procedures at both external and internal levels
  • Fostering relations with local, national and international communities, media and relevant stakeholders
  • Developing publishing and distribution policy and ensure that practices are followed
  • Overseeing development and management of an efficient archiving system
  • Lending support and sharing information with Program Directors and relevant staff in all matters related to communication and public relations
  • Managing communication and public relations staff, and streamlining communication with the Director General. 

 

 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the implementation of the annual communication and PR plan, in close coordination with the Director General and Program Directors
  • Develop the annual Communication and PR budget, and conduct cost and expenditure tracking activities in close coordination with the Director of Finance
  • Create and implement effective internal communication programs that promote the Foundation’s culture among staff
  • Develop and manage the Foundation’s branding policy & initiatives, and ensure that practices are in line with and effectively reflect the policy
  • Develop and manage the Foundation’s publishing policy and ensure that sound publishing processes are in place and followed by the relevant staff & external service providers
  • Oversee content, production and distribution of all publicity materials, in printed and electronic formats, including but not limited to the annual public report, newsletter, articles, press releases, success stories, and brochures
  • Oversee the production of film and video promotional materials, either internally or through outsourcing
  • Ensure that the Foundation’s public events and activities are well and timely advertised and promoted
  • Oversee the content and regular update of the Foundation’s website and other social media tools
  • Plan and organize special public relations events, such as open days visits and press conferences
  • Ensure efficiency and regular upgrading and updating of the unit’s archiving systems
  • Develop and manage strong relations with media representatives
  • Manage the Foundation’s response to critical issues and in times of crisis in coordination with the Director General, and respond to enquiries from the public, official and non-official organizations
  • Represent the work of the Foundation to members of the public and partners, and where necessary deliver presentations
  • Monitor, analyze and communicate results of PR and social media tools on a regular basis
  • Prepare and present regular reports including those for the semi-annual and annual reports
  • Maintain organized hard and soft copies of all communication activities 
  • Manage communication and PR staff; conduct staff appraisals and identify their training needs
  • Participate in management committee meetings
  • Any other work related tasks

 

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • A bachelor degree in communication, journalism or public relations
  • Minimum ten years of work experience in communication, journalism and/or public relations
  • Excellent communication, public relations, presentation and public speaking skills in both Arabic and English
  •  Ability to adapt communication style to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Good experience and wide exposure to the education and culture sectors in Palestine and the region
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of new digital/social media trends and day-to-day management of social media channels
  • Strong organizational and planning skills & ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent report writing skills
