Diaa Sersawi, 15 year old member of the QCC English Language Club, and another nine competitors won the Young Adults Short Story competition, which was launched by Tamer Institute for Community Education in Gaza in cooperation with Novell Gaza.

 

The competition aims to encourage children and young adults to exercise literary and creative writing and create a new generation of young writers by presenting their experiences and view of life in Palestine in English. Stories are shared with Swedish schools and institutions. An opportunity for Gaza stories to contribute to creating intellectual contact between Palestinian and Swedish young adults.

 

Sersawi won the competition for his short story The Scars of the War and My Cat. A Palestinian-Swedish arbitration committee, including writers and influential figures, read and selected the top 10 of 75 stories presented. Winning stories will be published in Novell Gaza 2.
