The Foundation hosted, on 24 March, a delegation of Belgian filmmakers accompanied by the Belgian Consul General in Jerusalem, Mr. Bruno Jans. The delegation met with a group of Palestinian filmmakers and discussed possibilities of mutual cooperation.
The delegation was received by Ziad Khalaf, the Foundation’s Director General, Mahmoud Abu Hashash, Director of Culture and Arts Programme, and Nader Dagher Director of Communication & Public Relations, as well as the film director George Khleifi.
Khalaf briefed attendees on the Foundation’s work and its programmes, with a focus on its contributions in supporting the audio-visual sector. The Belgian delegation provided information on the film industry in Belgium, and on opportunities for building partnerships with other filmmakers. Khleifi gave a presentation on the Palestinian cinema and its history.
The visit also included the screening of trailers of Palestinian films which had been produced from the 1970s until the last five years. Ms. Lina Boukhari from the Ministry of Culture also talked about the overall objectives and perspective of the cinema department in the ministry. This was followed by a presentation by director Mohannad Yacoubi on his upcoming project, Future Logic.
Khalaf accompanied the Consul on a tour of the Foundation’s new building project where he introduced him to the building’s facilities and departments.
