AMQF’s Educational Research and Development Programme in Gaza held a workshop on Reflective Writing on July 17, 2016. The workshop, led by Ula Badawi, one of the Programme’s researchers, revolved around preliminary writings of teachers on their experiences during the Nowwar Nissan Festival. Participants explored the main tenants of reflective writing, including description, contemplative reflection, interpretation and discovery. They pondered on their own writings and discussed their impressions and the role of preconceptions and generalizations in their own educational practice. Participants also had the valuable chance to reject preconceived notions, confirm existing educational theories and research and raise new questions in need of further research.
In the coming period, the participating teachers are planned to pursue work on their reflective writings about the festival. Qattan’s ERDP seeks to develop teachers’ writing skills to create and publish educational content that is deeply rooted in hands-on experience.
