Khaled Fahmy holds the title of Edward Keller Professor of North African and Middle Eastern Studies at Tufts University in the USA. His research interests encompass the cultural and social history of the modern Middle East, with a particular focus on 19th-century Egypt. One of his notable works, "In Quest of Justice Islamic Law and Forensic Medicine in Modern Egypt," has received awards and recognition.
